Phil > Ahmadinejad may be shrewd, but who can understand him?

I try to, for what it's worth. As I see it, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't so he may as well do what he thinks is right rather than attempt to comply with the wishes of the US, Europe and Israel because if he does, as Saddam tried to, that will merely weaken his position militarily and in the eyes of his own people. He has clearly taken the view that, if attacked, his forces must be as strong as they can be. He also knows that Israel has been agitating to attack Iran for a very long time and he believes the best way to prevent this is if Israel knows it will incur serious losses if it does --and it will.

I don't know if he's biting back but he certainly has sharpened his teeth.

> he claims to have analyzed the situation, being a "master in calculation". But how do you calculate human emotions?

Of course, as it's written it sounds like bullshit but I'm sure he has many advisers and has come to the best conclusion he could. He may look like an arsehole but I'm confident he has highly professional advisers.

> Not everything is done because it makes "sense". The present Iraq war is a good example of that.

It doesn't make sense in the way it's been sold to the public but actually it was part of two long range plans -- A Clean Break and the PNAC, both written by the neocons. Likewise, does 9/11 make sense in the way it's been sold to the public? What have the "terrorists" actually achieved?

> Most of the time its insanity. How do you calculate that?

One has to have a certain type of mind, I guess. You should rather ask the Zionists, their whole existence is based on war.
