I still think that a couple of years from now, the "subprime meltdown" will be a forgotten sound bite.

I don't believe for a moment that it's as bad as they'd have us think. The market needs a major correction and usually needs a reason for one, and this one's doing the job.

That said, I've lost a boatload of money betting that Homebanc (then a multi-dollar listed stock; not a bankrupt pink) was a good play on the notion of subprime being overblown.
