It is clear to the world when gazans rocket israeli settlements who is in the right even if some wont admit it. Suicide bombings have been neutralized. Israel can respond to rockets. Egypt needs to be involved on the border. Palestinians can live in misery and spend their time launching rockets or holding their govt feet to the fire.
Same should happen in WB. Israel should withdraw its settlements except those in dispute around Jerusalem. Settlers were used by the pols and now they are extremists living in a foreign land holding their own nation at risk. Time to leave or become palestinians. ha ha.
Your reading of history may be correct but history alone does not offer a guide here that betters the situation. I think abbas is serious about ending this and you yourself said saudis need the israeli shield vis a vis iran. Arabs, Saudis, pals need to have an epiphany that includes israel in their region forever. Israel has to put aside the historical memory of terrorism just as the pals do about occupation. There was a time when Rabin was PM right after the signing of that agreement when the pals were giving israali soldiers flowers in the WB. I remember that small period in time. Maybe that feeling can be resurrrected?
