This George Gilder article briefly discusses G* v.s. Iridium. seas.upenn.edu I thought you might all be interested in this one. The discussion is toward the end of the article which is fairly lengthy. Here is the just of the article pertaining to G*. "NextWave will join its complementary sister company in space, Globalstar, at the heart of a CDMA fabric of culture-independent worldwide communications. Watch Motorola's obsolescent Iridium, with its exclusive spectrum requirements and its effort to bypass all local infrastructure, sink like a stone." The rest of the article is very interesting as well and is worth reading. P.S. Sorry if this is a repost.
