Gold is periodically a good asset to hold, at other times not, according to the theory.

1966-80 yes, 1980-2001 definitely not, 2001-2007 it's kept me in indolence.

Depends on the yard sticks being use to measure it. The US dollar is definitely undergoing a relativistic shift as things speed up.

People up here are being informed that they'll take at least a 50% haircut on some asset backed commercial paper coming due. Relativity in action. Gold may do a lot of things, but it won't shrink under a change of coordinates.
