I agree that this credit crunch is going to trump the war effect on the economy. For one thing, the war is not as big a percentage of the GNP as it was in Korea or WWII.

What I am struggling with is who are the best short candidates in this mess. Most of the obvious prospects, such as the mortgage companies, have already been beaten down. I suspect that JPM has more problems than we know about, but they may be big enough to ride it out. I wonder who are some of the smaller public companies who are likely to be broken due to lack of liquidity.

Anyone have any good ideas?
