As Dizzy G has pointed out China has surpassed us in emissions and will pull way ahead soon. Also you can be sure there are many Democrats like Sen. Byrd who also will protect coal burning plants.

Of course, thats ok. It would be silly for us not to burn coal for power since we have so much of it.
