According to the Semiconductor Industry Association, sales worldwide may rise more than 12 percent in 1999, led by sales of memory chips and specialized chips. PC shipments are expected to rise more than 20 percent in the second quarter of 1999 from a year earlier. Fast-growing networking, Internet and communications companies are fueling the industry's growth as well.

In the first half-hour, the guest is Charles Boucher, semiconductor analyst at Donaldson Lufkin Jenrette in San Francisco. Boucher will give his current overview of the chip stocks. Among the companies Boucher covers are: Altera (Nasdaq:ALTR), Broadcom (Nasdaq:BRCM), 3Dfx (Nasdaq:TDFX), Conexant Systems (Nasdaq:CNXT), National Semiconductor (Nyse:NSM), PMC Sierra (Nasdaq:PMCS) and Xilinx (Nasdaq:XLNX).

Sue Billat will be on the second half hour and offer insight into the rousing recovery in semiconductor equipment stocks and whether bellwether Applied Materials (Nasdaq:AMAT) can lead the semi cap stocks out of their three-year slump.
