I don't debate for the shear act of debating...not my thing, however, I don't mind discussing/debating things that I'm passionate about. We're having a discussion right now over on Politics for Pros on drug prohibition, it's been rather enlightening. I tried to carry on a discussion about it previously on the PGWB thread and was almost banned for doing so, not to mention attacked personally. I've found the best threads around have some form of propriety and for that it takes a good moderator. A moderator that keeps people in line yet doesn't stifle discussion or debate. When faultline was around this might have been a good thread but IMO it's been ruined by left fringe hair on fire types like geode and sylvestor.

Oh, by the way, the post you responded to was a critic by Ayn Rand on a book by B.F Skinner. All the things she mentioned might be used as good debate tools, but that's lawyer speak <g>, for any debate where a correct solution is the goal those tools would be self defeating to a resolution.
