Reverse split was defeated at CMGI by stockholder votes. Each penny was one percent gain or loss for daytraders then. Daily volume is over 8 million shares now. Daytraders win or lose among themselves, not the market makers who get a commission.

SunMicro may try to do reverse split without stockholders meeting, which will scare stockholders away. Leaving JAVA with less of a market than before, And stockholders may have another opportunity when stock goes back down to $1 similar to 2002(Sun had $10 billion cash then before any acquisitions).

Market making is to increase the number of stockholders, to extend the market in dollars traded on the stock. Losing stockholders like Enron did, hurt the company. ie. Enron bought their own stock to scalp the market maker(specialist).

The fortunes of a company only take one bad decision to sink the company; can unfortunately be true.
