What is next for Edwards?!?!. Will he come out in support of meeting with leaders of "so-called rogue nations" in his first year of Presidency. Go Obama go. Folks such as Edwards would not have turned around if their campaign team's intelligence indicated that the themes first expressed by Obama did not resonate with the people, I think. We got to stop the press in annointing candidates by coming out with poll numbers which are not truly reflective of the mood in this country. Go American people go.

RMF, I agree that we need to save this country by getting Obama elected. It is not about a lady or a Black man getting into the WH for the first time. I think it is more to with with America and restoring its glory with a person who has the vision to do so and not the experience, refered to as Washington experience of bluffing the American people to get their votes. ==============================================
The Edwards Counter-Terror Plan By Karen James
With Sept. 11 coming up, some of the presidential candidates are coming to Lower Manhattan, including Hillary Clinton, who will be at ground zero tomorrow, and Rudolph W. Giuliani, who will be at the anniversary ceremony Tuesday.
Today, John Edwards was a few blocks from the site of the attack to discuss his plans for combatting terrorism, and he unveiled a plan that centers upon the creation of a multilateral, intelligence-sharing member organization.
Using the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks as an opportunity to outline the policy he pledged to implement if elected president, Mr. Edwards announced he would form a Counterterrorism and Intelligence Treaty Organization (CITO).
CITO would be made up of nations committed to sharing financial, police, customs and immigration intelligence that would enable authorities to track and shut down terrorist cells, he said.
“We saw the promise of a new multilateral approach just a couple of days ago in Germany,” Mr. Edwards said, referring to the arrests of three men there who were suspected of plotting attacks on American interests. The arrests were made possible through close cooperation between American and German authorities.
“We must be able to coordinate similar operations throughout the world—in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and anywhere in the world the terrorists may attack,” Mr. Edwards said. He clarified that membership in CITO would be contingent upon the willingness of each nation to actively combat terrorism.
Mr. Edwards also spoke of the need for a new “foreign policy of conviction.” He used the example of U.S. relations with Pakistan to criticize the Bush administration for what he had earlier described as a “foreign policy of convenience” that “regularly turns a blind eye when our allies wrongly fail to cooperate.”
Citing the recent National Intelligence Estimate findings that Al Qaeda has established a safe haven in the northern tribal areas of Pakistan, Mr. Edwards said he would condition future American aid to that country on progress including its ability to strengthen the reach of its regional police forces and to effectively work with tribal leaders to ensure acceptance of the Pakistan government.
“We have given the Musharraf government billions of dollars in aid in the last several years, yet they’ve done little to get control over these areas,” he said.
Aid aside, however, “I want to be clear about one thing: if we have actionable intelligence about imminent terrorist activity and the Pakistan government refuses to act, we will,” Mr. Edwards continued, prompting the audience to a round of applause.
