Vi, I keep thinking about this and trying to figure it out.

How exactly does buying index futures prop the market up?

It lulls institutional investor confidence that "there must be a lot of buyers?"
Or, it sends a message that liquidity is being pumped into the system?
What in your opinion is the precise link between the futures and the indices that trade during the day?
