I haven't had a chance to look at the Mish blog yet, but I'll get to it soon. I have to say though, when I see LIBOR and "commercial paper" and all that, flags go up for me.
There are easier ways for me to rekon this, ones that do not involve understanding high finance (not that I don't enjoy the discussion).
My father was a mechanic at Grumman, and then for most of his working life at Boeing. He weathered layoffs, a strike, the stagflation of the '70s and the high interest rates of the early '80s.
What I learned from him, was that if you live just under your means you will do okay. He did upgrade our residence a few times, from a very modest working man's home, to a more comfortable residence with room for two kids, and finally to the sort of home that a lot of folks think they are entitled to from the get go. And that is what you do with your primary residence. |
