>>First, about your EM-U sampler -- I'm a former Emuon (that's what we called ourselves) and I had heard that IOM got dropped from EMU sort of in correlation with the Roland debacle. Has there been any verifiable record to this, that you know of?<<
From what I understand, one can get certain Syquest drives installed internally as an option on E-Mu devices. Iomega Zip drives are software supported (I don't know about Jaz), although not directly sold by E-Mu.
I have an Esi-32 Turbo w/32 Meg. Probably the only sampler I'll ever need. I bought the sampler at Sam Ash here in NY but wasn't pressured and didn't ask about any kind of external storage. I went with a mail-order for the Syjet. Load time is blazing compared to the internal 1.44 floppy drive and seems at least twice as fast as my friend's Zip.
As far as any market push, I saw no displays about either Iomega or Syquest. The drives themselves were relegated to one box each on a wall rack. I suppose that if one wanted to buy either, they had to get one from the back.
Well, see you later, I'm off to interview with a Producer about yet another movie. Maybe this one will have a good nude scene like the last one.
