When I lived in Texas, I was told by many guys that many women would follow you home if you treated them like sh*t. To link this to the male attracting female aspect of your post.

Its unbelievable that it works, but it doesn't heal the problems between men and women.

I also find it unbelievable that treating someone with respect and using manners in many cases is looked upon as a weakness.
