I woke up in Washington State at 6:30 PST. My wife was off at a conference in Miami's South Beach. I woke my 12-year-old daughter for school, and then flipped on the television to see reports of a plane having hit one of the two WTC towers. As we watched, the second plane came in and shot into the other tower. I turned to my daughter and said, "it's a terrorist attack."

We watched as first one and then the other towers collapsed and we learned that the Pentagon had been struck as well.

I eventually headed into Seattle for work. The week before, my firm had moved its office from the 76-story Columbia Center, and I was relieved, as I feared that building could be a target as well.

As a result of air traffic being shut down nationwide, my wife was stuck in Miami and didn't make it home until Saturday.
