At the risk of repeating myself with the Phillips Curve stuff, I think Ben knows he's pretty much snookered here, but that he still has to make a choice.

If it's valid to express this complex issue in only black & white terms, I guess you could say that all that remains to be seen now is whether BB will hold rates firm to try and stave off a run on the Clownbuck, or whether he'll bow to the rate cut pressure right here from square one and effectively smash the champagne bottle over the Zimbabwe Express to inflation hell. I'd like to think he'd opt to look at the long term economic health picture, but I may be politically naive in that judgment.

I really don't want to re-live the 1970s, but the way things are looking, I may have to rejoin the gold party after all
