The assertion is that the life expectancy of illegal immigrants is likely to be lower. Its a reasonable assertion even if it isn't a proven one. A reasonable assertion is enough in this case. I'm not trying to assert something like "when you consider all of the data about life expectancy the US is better". An assertion like that would reasonably require hard data behind all or at least most of my points. I'm pointing out a likely weakness in the opposite claim. It remains a weakness unless my reasonable assertion is shown to be an incorrect one.

The stronger your assertion the more support you need for it. Asserting "Single payer is better as proven by the fact that advanced countries with a single payer system have longer average life spans than the US" is a rather strong assertion. Or to put it another way a bold claim. Such a strong assertion would require a very strong argument, because its well known that difference in the typical medical insurance systems withing a country are not the main determinant of life expectancy.

The claim that "this could be explained by other factors" is not nearly as bold. Note it isn't the same as the claim "this IS explained by other factors". The latter would require a lot more hard data than the former. I have provided quite a bit of data about some of the other factors. Raising additional possible factors, even without hard data on each and every one isn't an empty assertion. It points out even more ways that any argument that simply relying on the life expectancy figure amounts to a very weak argument.
