NEWBRIDGE, 3COM EXPECTED TO ANNOUNCE NEW PRODUCT TORONTO (Dow Jones)--The market is expecting an important announcement from Newbridge Networks Corp. (NN) and 3Com Corp. (COMS) at about 11:00 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT) Wednesday, sources who didn't wish to be identified said. Rumors have been circulating for weeks that 3Com will take an equity position in Newbridge or that the two companies will announce a joint distribution agreement, but industry sources said the announcement will involve the two companies introducing a new product at the Interop conference in Atlanta. The Internet related product is expected to complement Newbridge's strength in the ATM market servicing public telephone carriers and 3Com's strength in supplying ATM equipment to enterprise networks. The new product will service both markets, the sources said. o~~~ O
