Republicans don't even care about looking clean. Everyone accepts Republican corruption, as in Enron and goodness knows what else infesting Republican coffers. It is only because Dems are clean in comparison that this kind of thing is news. 100% publicly funded campaigns (aka campaign contributions are not free speech along with yelling fire in a crowded theater or bomb in an airplane) are the ONLY solution. Instead of trying to raise thousands of dollars a day, politicos could actually sit down and understand what the heck they are legislating or executing.
