According to you tried and failed, no? You are doing double counting here nadine. First al queda is a huge threat. Now the surge has wiped them out. Lets face facts. Al quaeda got support from the tribes and the baathists to fight us. What they got from al q, they did not like, thus the pre-surge tribal leader approach to the US. Can al queda make trouble again, especially after we pull out, sure they can. Can the sunnis now in control beat them back with much larger numbers they have, certainly. Should we support non-al quaeda sunnis during the time we are in iraq and post our departure from most combat. Absolutely. Please dont double count these folks. Bernie Ebbers is in jail for doing such things.
