Betrayus and Bush pulled off a major scam on the American people. Again, for Bush. I don't know if Betrayus had sold his soul before, but usually the soul is pretty much gone before you see that third star. The thing I laughed about was that the media and the White House was portraying the general as "non-political," but he had written Empire building op-eds in support of the war long before he got the command.
Most generals believe as he does. You kiss Theater, DOD and, finally, White House butt whenever you can to ensure a smooth career progression. So, I don't really consider his "mini-Bush" viewpoint a cop out. Any general who told Bush he was out to lunch would not hold a major command. But when he started his testimony with "The White House has not heard this testimony in advance," after he'd spent several days in The White House planning strategy, I thought it was a spoof broadcast on The Daily Show. Then, when he would not comment on Warner's question about whether or not the Bush Aggression in Iraq was making America safer, I momentarily thought he might have a mind of his own. But, a frantic call from The White House caused him to elaborate on what he'd said, spewing the Bush line.
This thing is a mess. |
