Wait.... the problems at northern rock and Alliance Leicester are very british, homemade ALT-A alike problems.

The Jihad of bad credit was exported, not mortgage paper was shipped to northern rock. Similar lax standards created doubtful paper directly in the U.K.

Of course, the end result is the same.
