Yes, USD has collapsed, so we ARE in a USD crisis, it's not
coming. While I don't expect Weimar, the dollar index dropping
to even as low as 40 is not out of the question, at least
technically, if 80 is convincingly broken. The collapse of US
debt held by foreigners (ongoing problem already) could trigger
a more rapid slide. The dollar is down
from 121 to 80 now in 5 years, a further slide to 40 in the
time frame of 1 year or less will feel like a total
meltdown. It will actually BE a total meltdown, if that
happens. Well, so far 78 and 72 are potential USD bouncers. -g-
Such slides have not been uncommon: prior to 87 crash USD went
down from 160 to 80 in a couple of years. A similar bottom
today would be 60. The trade deficit back then was a lot lower
too as a %% of GDP.
