i ordered the macbook pro 17" and i needed the power for all i do with work, photoshop and premier. i did extensive research on the macbook pro 15" with the new led and loved that as well but prefer the larger 17" screen. the macbook does cost less and may do fine for your gifts. in all of the above cases, start pricing them with amzn as they charge no tax and then call a few dealers to see if they can do better. pm me after that and i'll let you know which dealer i use i like the 24" DELL displays and they are under $500, well under with online coupons. at 1920x1200, they are enough for almost anybody.
