If Fed was independent (like they should be) they would not be cutting to appease the incumbent party. There is absolutly no fundamental reason for a cut. A cut wil not lower mrtg. rates, a cut will weaken the US economy and US doller and US purchasing power. A cut will reduce forign sales of Treauries to forign cental banks. There is no justifiable reason for a cut. They alreay learned this with Greenspan.

It is only being done is a pre-election year to appese the incumbent party. Bernanke should be smarter knowing that any cut wil furtehr weakent he US economy. Unreal really.
