I wasn't aware of the Verizon Chaperone service. Interesting.

But it doesn't use GPS. It just uses the cell-tower signal triangulation method.

Hmmm. I guess if the GPS chip in the phone got the location data from the satellite, and then reported that to the network, it could be used to more closely pinpoint your location. I hadn't thought of that at first.

OK, back to paranoia mode.
