To all who really think that the Y2K problem is a hoax:

Have you downloaded the free software from these two sites and checked your own PC yet?
nstl.com
survive-2000.com
NO?
I did. It has made me think twice before just buying a new motherboard and cpu without checking compliance for Y2K.

BTW Back in the early 1980's when I first got a PC, I heard about a potential problem with Y2K back then.... too bad nobody took it seriously, could have avoided the current crisis.

Anybody that knocks this sector without really checking things out with your own pc IMO is really in big time denial. Though I do agree that there are some Y2k stocks that are total hype (the ones that propose a silver bullet that can save all), I do not feel that the potential problems are overhyped. How will we know for sure until the day comes? I certainly don't want to be hiding my head in the sand and say "there is no problem at all". Our current civilization depends very much on computertized operations for almost everything. I don't think that we will benefit by ignoring the problem. I hope to God we can solve the Y2K problem.
