I truly wish that they were that authoritarian and commanding, for it might also have meant that they're in control -- but it's now becoming clearer that they're not

The crashing dollar genie is now getting out of the bottle, and as a major debtor nation, not much good is going to come of that, no matter what the stock indexes might seem to be saying today -- it's all an illusion that only becomes evident the next time you try to buy something and it costs 10%, then 20%, and then 35% more than the last time, only you don't have any more dollars coming in than you did before, nor do you have any leverage to get any more dollars when your job can be exported to New Delhi by the simple issuance of a memo to the human resources department
