I first heard Emmylou when she made her Elite Hotel album, been following her career ever since. One thing that strikes you about her slow songs is the deep feeling she puts into them. And her stage presence was always somewhat restrained, even with the upbeat numbers. I'd always known she thought highly of Gram Parsons and looked to him as a mentor, but his death affected her a lot more than I realized. If you watch some of the interviews on youtube that becomes clear. I've never seen her as animated as she is in this song she does with Gram Parsons.
