OBL gained status by his history of successful attacks against America - the two embassies, the USS Cole, 911. AQ promised more attacks but hasn't been able to deliver, even though leftists in the US have tried to weaken our defenses.

The sanctions regime, which Al Jazeera and even the UN said was killing 50,000 Iraqi babies every year, was used by OBL to recruit. Nowadays Arabs see AQ attacking other Muslims whom we have freed. If it has any effect at all, Iraq reduces the drive to terrorism.

Now AQ is losing in Anbar where it was long protected by Sunni tribes.

The left is AQ's best ally. Thats why OBL appealed to the left in its own language.

Bush I defeated Saddam Hussein in the first Gulf War. Shortly thereafter OBL made his first attack on US soil. Why? This country had had 12 years of GOP control prior to that attack. How come? I'll know you will try to blame the left but its always interesting to see how clever you guys are.
