Interesting - seems like there are hundreds of billions in subprime paper and derivatives, plus all the losses from activity that will be slowed down or never happen thanks to the frozen commercial paper market.

How do the actual monetary losses end up being small? Serious question, not rhetorical. I'd like to know if I missed something.
