<< The $ figure seems rather modest. Let's see if I understand this: LPTHA is giving $80,000 to produce Gradium. How much product gets produced ? >>
LPTHA is receiving not giving an order. Perhaps you meant they have been given an order.
-$80,000 isn't a large figure but it needs to be put into perspective. Lightpath had sales of $673,677 last year. This order would represent almost 12% of last year sales. Not all that bad.
-LPTHA had $199,524 in lens sales last year ('97) or 5 times fiscal '96 sales of aprox $40,000 (Other revenues were for research grants and an option sold to Fuji, etc.) This order represents 40% of last years entire lens sales. Not too shabby.
-LPTHA has already stated in it's 10K that it had an order backlog for lenses (as of June 30, 1997) of $120,000 all of which it intended to ship during Q1 '98. This is the Q that just ended last week (Sep 30). If you tally that plus this order you come up with $200,000 in lens bookings for '98 and we only just finished the first Q. I assume that since June 30, 1997 Lightpath has received more orders aside from this one so it looks like Lightpath will have surpassed last years lens sales in the first 3 months alone.
-Furthermore Lightpath said this was an initial order and they expected more from Newport.
"The Newport transaction means significant additional revenue potential, beyond the current production order, and is a vote of confidence in our company and GRADIUM technology."
-As for the distributors, I'm not familiar with all of them but I know that Spectra Physics is highly regarded in the laser industry. I have also heard of Mellos Griot. I think they are known in the industry.
<< Not showing much yet >>
If you want to discuss valuations or something I will be happy to but to say that this company isn't making any progress doesn't seem fair.
I averaged up today, big time. |
