Mr Adrenaline, you seem to know a bit of stuff. What about it? How will Globalstar make sure they don't get a flat battery, leaving subscribers high and dry? So far, they have talked of about 45 cents wholesale and variations in support of local providers if the local provider wants to cut prices or, I suppose, increase them.

So when the satellite passes over China and Japan and the battery is flat with a night time trip before getting back to New Zealand, we will never actually be able to get service! Not even if we are prepared to pay $5 per minute. Because the bloody battery will be flat.

Now THAT is bad coverage. I thought Globalstar said they would provide worldwide coverage. How are they going to do that with flat batteries all over the place?

At least Iridium will have the advantage of space switching so that they can bypass satellites with flat batteries. The whole lot will go flat simultaneously, so they'll have NO coverage at all!! Since half of them will be in daylight, they'll have some tenuous connection I suppose, but you get the drift?

Mqurice

PS: and today the shareprice hit $119 pre-split! That is 6 times issue price and 10 times my buy price. Seems excessive for a constellation of flat batteries.
