Who really wants an MPEG1 video camera anyway? Not consumers at that price, and certainly not for MPEG1 video quality. And as you said, MVP can put MPEG1 video into your PC for lots less even if you go out and buy a brand new conventional camcorder. Sounds like a product without a market ...
