And I can't conceive how we fight a war without having a strategic plan to win....

It would seem logical to think the Generals and the President must have discussed that several times.

Of course those discussions have occurred.

The only problem is W keeps on meeting with generals with big bang conventional warfare training. Like 78 RPM records, their theories are obsolete in this conflict. And he keeps avoiding those generals who grew up in unconventional low-intensity environments.

To accept my viewpoint, you must first come to this realization...No amount of American fire power is going to stabilize Iraq.

Perhaps I should say it this way. The only way big bang American firepower is going to stabilize Iraq is if we become more abhorrent than the terrorists.

If we really want to use bullets to end this war, we would be far better off by giving all 3 Iraqi sides all of our ammo and letting them have a go.

Some of the world's most enduring peace has followed civil wars that were allowed to proceed to an end solution found only in the exhaustion of warfare.
