for somebody who watches a lot of hours of TV, cable or SAT is the best price per hour. for somebody who only watches a few hours of DVDs, i think a place like Netflix is a better deal. the only problem with Netflix is you can't watch live sports, so if that is important you're out of luck. as for news, the news is so much better on the Internet and in paper (magazines, etc.), i don't understand why people watch "news". again, though, if you watch cable Apple TV won't help you at all. it is really a kind of superfluous device. although i don't care personally, i think Apple made a strategic error by not including an input for cable TV.
