Actually, the Europeans and others are already doing that John. As you say, they are not raising rates when they need to. Except China, but they need to raise with 6.5% inflation now. And a greatly undervalued yuan.

And the Europeans pumped more liquidity into the system with the last DOW meltdown than the US. Canada even put in 1.6 billion.

In 1980, the politics were in place to allow Volker to raise rates enugh to quash inflation. Where did that will go?

So now our financial system is now being run by irrational politics. Like so many other irrational political postions prohibiting our government from taking social action deemed necessary by our scientists and economic experts for a smoothly running society.

Continuing the charade of supply side economics being one of the most destructive. But irrationality abounds today.

We truely have entered an Alice in Wonderland period and are about to pay the price. A society cannot function without facing reality and applying intelligent decisions.

A war based on lies and ignorance, banning stem cell research even though they through out the cells, debating the teaching of evolution in the schools, gay bashing as a political platform, rationalizing torture, suspending habeau corpus.

Like Hoover's destruction of our society almost 100 years ago, based on venel and crazy ideas, so we enter a similiar era.
