Ever since its development, there has been some talk about how much the microwaving of food may change the actual construction of the food molecules. I haven't Googled for research on it, but we were reminded of it in one or two of Kevin Trudeau's books about it, and I also see he's been taking a few hits about the legitimacy of some of the information he has presented.

We stopped using it just to see if there would be a difference. Immediately we tasted a difference in baked potatoes, since we had been microwaving potatoes for several years as opposed to doing them in the oven.

I believe the tongue is more sensitive to the foods in our mouths than it has been given credit for.

Example;

After my wife and I had started following the Zone proportions presented by Barry Sears, we could feel the difference if say there was too much fat, we would feel sluggish; after too much protein we'd feel tired, and after too many carbohydrates we'd feel bloated.
On the first Thanksgiving dinner we had after becoming sensitized by the Zone, we came home totally bloated because as we know, carbs are the name of the game at almost every Thanksgiving dinner. We had been given leftover turkey and such to bring home, and my wife suggested that we have some turkey breast, and I argued how? I feel stuffed to the top of my throat, but I brought us some anyway, and AS we chewed, the bloated feeling started going away.

I had never considered the implications of taste being so far reaching as far as the chemistry of the body was concerned. Apparently taste tells the brain immediately what is on the way, and digestive balance changes even before the food reaches the stomach.

So, what does that mean to me that a baked potato tastes so much better out of the oven than when it is cooked in the microwave? There may be a deeper reason than just personal preference.

It may be that not using the microwave is also contributing to us not wanting as much to eat because the body is getting better food quality.

At any rate, I'm sure it is an area open to plenty of argument. I'm not a nutritionalist, I read and think hmmm, maybe. In a case such as this one, I'm certainly not endangering my health by using an oven over a microwave.
