Just interesting regarding the effects of global warming on Canada's economics:

Canada's new economic opportunities: The smallest "pack ice" in the artic was measured last year at 1.5 million sq miles. That shrunk to 1 million sq miles this year, in just one year.

The ice pack has moved north in the Bearing sea about 500 miles. The fish are moving north with the retreat of the sea ice. Salmon are spawning in new rivers further to the north and Bearing sea fish and crab are moving north.

If you look at a map of Canada you can see fish like cod will start moving into heretofore huge barren areas in the northern artic. Sunlight hitting the ocean means food for fish.

As well, Canada's growing latitude for things like winter wheat has also moved north several hundred miles.

Here in Alaska and Northern Canada, elk and deer are moving in followed by cougers. On the north slope trees are growing and the moose population is able to forage easier to the artic ocean.

Off of southeast Alaska last year we actually had schools of the large 5 foot humbolt squid surrounding fishing boats-lol. And tropical fish are being caught more commonly like albacore and others.

The times they are a changing-lol.
