You know, alanrs....I read that article with amusement, especially since he rants about the Puritan view and ideals of America.

Surely he jests. THe Puritan and Pilgrim influence was here in America until after the American Revolutionary War when people started to settle the West, and more and more individuals came to America to find the streets of gold they had heard about. Then the massive immigration came to the US after the Civil War and continues today. People from all over the world have flooded into this country, bringing their customs and ideas of utopia with them.

He's a Liberal. What do we expect? That he would know some facts?....heaven forbid.

What group of people seem to run town hall? Most often, it isn't the Republican side of the house, who are for less regulation. (And most of whom are working supporting the lefties who tend to work in Government areas which are tax supported.....)

No, it IS the leftwing Democrats who make rules and laws at every turn.....If you don't believe that, look at the current regulations in effect in your local home town....See by whom they were sponsored ....

Look at what we have today....Hillary telling Americans (most of whom already have purchased medical insurance)...they can't have a job unless they have health insurance.... Edwards, and his not so lovely loudmouthed sidekick, telling people they have to give up more or their income, so that the poor can survive, all the time, he continues combing his hair, and they live in a HUGE house fit for a king. Obama telling people they have been doing it all wrong for a long time, and it does take a village to tell them how to do it right... and Kucinich muttering over there in the corner about the benefits of Communism and Socialism for the downtrodden masses.

Enter the park and a sign greeted you with 14 rules. It was as if someone had come up with a list of everything you'd ever want to do in a park and prohibited it. Go elsewhere if you want to picnic, kick a ball, play music, roast marsh mellows, run your dog, smoke, take a nap, show up after dark. Do these things in our park and you'll be fined or arrested or both. As a friend in Austin puts it, "In this city everything not mandatory is prohibited.”
