You need to get out to somewhere other than a retirement "community". That is not the typical retiree. The majority of retirees have returned to work, unable to ever retire again most likely. As for "But virtually ALL current retirees are taking out much much more than they put into SS" ...got facts? Taking into account inflation adjusted $$$ I would find that very hard to believe.
