koan, I'm glad you brought up methane, as it's about 80% of the cause of global warming from scientific studies I've read.

Folks tend to forget that.

Global warming is like a stone running down hill, and methane release is a huge reason for that. It's going to happen whether people like it or not. There is methane trapped in bogs all over the world that is being released regardless of how much carbon and pollution human activity releases.

People forget that the earth has oscillated between periods of extreme cold and extreme warmth over millions of years. There is no normal, despite what people think. They think normal is only what we've observed recently in the past couple hundred years, but that's a blip in the history of the earth.

Heck, we had glaciers all over North America only like 12,000 years ago. There are also fossils of tropical plants in the Arctic.

People like to have their news boiled down to little sound bites, and it appears they like their science the same way. Well, atmospheric science can't be simplified into a sound bite.
