Too tough for me to really say. Looks like S&P has done consistently better than BRK in past five years. Going forward, I don't know.

I don't know how to evaluate an index: I guess it's same metrics-- p/sales, p/e on a composite basis.

Berkshire has so much stuff inside it, I have to rely on experts' opinions of the sum-of-parts.

I agree with your opinion that an advantage of WSC is that Munger/Buffett don't chase, while other insurance operators might. And we might only know which after the fact, when it's too late.
