you think? I think the opposite. The problem I have with my parents (who are now deceased) retirement community is that there is NO SHAME in extracting as much as you can out of the government in the form of medicare and SS, although all of them are quite aware of the high taxes their kids pay and mostly vote against new taxes for their community such as schools- until it comes to THEIR BENEFITS that they have convinced themselves they "paid for".

I think making SS and Medicare into a program only for needy would create a stigma so these people would be embarrassed to act the way they do. They should feel that way now, but don't. The greed from this group is just amazing to me.

The welfare expenditures in the USA pale in comparison to all these middle class entitlements.
