I think you are right. And the guy who is the least attractive to be messed with at this time, I think, is Giuliani. As Bush Sr. used to say - "Character matters"... Back in the days when Ahmadinejad was a still beardless young creep, the moment Regan took office, they released our hostages. The US didn't change on that day, only its President. Carter simply did not command the needed respect.
