Buy a LCD TV 1080p, size of your choice but I would say minimum 46 and buy upconvert DVD player that has 1080p output (goes for about 100-125) and you are in business.. Good thing is of course your TV has no connection to DVD format other then 1080p standard which is the latest..

By the time Blu ray and HD format sorts it self out, will probably be a long time.. And you are already starting to see 3rd party manufacturer such as Samsung, LG already out with DVD players that plays both Blu ray and HD formats but prices at around 1k it is too high..

Since I am looking into this, I have narrowed it down to Samsung LNT4671 I want to checkout.. On US side, it is priced around 3300 on the high end but I have also seen some direct sellers pricing it around 2500.. No doubt the price will be cheaper in another 6 months..
