NJ isn't Arkansas Well into the 1990s you could buy a quite large house in PA or NJ for much less than $200k. My parents bought their large house in east central PA for $120k in 1995 or somewhere thereabouts, maybe 1996. Unless they live in Bergen County or something, they bought a huge house.
