Under the broad outlines of her new universal health care proposal, Sen. Hillary Clinton today reassured Americans that her plan calls for “no new bureaucracy,” just new bureaucrats.
“Read my lips: No new bureaucracy,” said Sen. Clinton to a cheering crowd of uninsured part-time Wal-Mart employees at a union organizing rally for undocumented immigrants, “We’ve got Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, the Veterans Administration…the last thing Americans want is another faceless health care bureaucracy. All we really need to implement my new mandatory choices plan is a huge influx of new employees into our existing bureaucracies.”
In a briefing after the speech, an unnamed Clinton aide said the Democrat presidential hopeful realizes that “people hate remote, monolithic, impersonal agencies. However, most Americans like people, and won’t oppose creating new jobs for thousands upon thousands of otherwise unemployable folks.”
“The beauty of her plan,” the source said,”is that we can cover most of the 47 million uninsured by giving them good, high-paying jobs overseeing the government-mandated health choices program.” |
