You guys must not be in the medical field. Trust me, no one could survive if they only collected 50% billable. The difference may lie in what BCBS pays (contract rate) PLUS your co-pay. You will see that on your "Explanation of Benefits" you receive for each bill. That's how I collect 90 - 100% of billable.

Even if your particular BCBS plan only pays 50%, you will be expected to pay approximately 35 - 50% as your co-pay. Thus, total collected amounts to 85 - 100% of billable.

The reason many providers refuse to accept Medicaid is that Federal rules require you to accept Medicaid payments as payment in full. This would amount to around 50% billable and not even close to enough to run a viable business.
